Amy is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) in Yoga Alliance’s National Yoga Teacher Registry at the 500 hour level.  She has been teaching group classes in New York and New Jersey since 2008.  Certified in YogaWorks and the ISHTA lineage she currently teaches at these studios in NYC.   For many years she led classes at New York University Sports Centers (Coles and Palladium) and has also taught at Workout World (WOW) and Surya Yoga Academy in NJ.

Amy offers a sensibly sequenced, alignment-based, challenging physical practice that endeavors to promote vitality, relaxation and a sense of well-being.  She incorporates ISHTA meditation techniques, and pranayama, and offers numerous modifications to the asana portion to make her classes accessible to all ages and every level of strength and flexibility. The ages of her clientele range from 17 years old to 80 years young.

This past year Amy has come to understand what it means to learn by teaching, as she has been assisting ISHTA Teacher Trainings (200 and 300hr) and is truly humbled at having the opportunity to train future teachers.

Amy favors light-heartedness over a didactic trudge along the path to enlightenment, and strives to strike the right chord of humor, with music, and real-world philosophy.  When off the mat she is drawn to the sunny beaches of Montauk where she meanders with her husband Barney, and dogs Cyclone, Kala and Linzer.  Occasionally, at low tide, Amy is compelled to find the appropriate spot of hard sand to go upside down and look at the world in a new way.
